RaceChip adds power to a turbocharged engine by enhancing the engine’s control signals, particularly those that adjust fuel injection, turbo boost pressure, and sometimes ignition timing. Here’s how it works:
- Intercepting and Modifying Signals:
The RaceChip unit intercepts data between the engine control unit (ECU) and the engine’s components, modifying it to adjust parameters like fuel delivery and turbo boost pressure. - Increasing Boost Pressure:
By increasing the turbo boost pressure, RaceChip allows more air to enter the combustion chamber. The ECU compensates by adding more fuel, resulting in more power during each combustion cycle. This increase is carefully calibrated to stay within safe limits for the engine and turbo components. - Optimizing Fuel Injection Timing and Amount:
RaceChip also fine-tunes the timing and quantity of fuel injected to ensure optimal combustion with the increased air from the turbocharger. This leads to a more efficient and powerful burn, which directly contributes to higher horsepower and torque. - Customizable Settings:
Most RaceChips offer adjustable performance modes, allowing users to select levels that balance power gains with fuel efficiency or engine stress.
